Poker players in the United States will have something to keep them warmed up and entertained this January as PokerStars US is hosting the Winter Series.

Running in all three states where PokerStars operates in the United States, the Winter Series features 156 individual events and almost $4 million in combined prizes.

The Winter Series kicks off today, January 12, and will run through the month, wrapping up on January 29. Players in Pennsylvania will get to enjoy 75 events available only through the PA client, while players from Michigan and New Jersey will have a shot at 81 MTTs together on a PokerStars US platform that combines players from these two states.

$1.5 Million up for Grabs for PA Players

In Pennsylvania, PokerStars US is offering $1.5 million in guarantees across 75 tournaments. There is a great array of buy-ins in the Winter Series, starting as low as $10 and going all the way up to $2,000 for the high roller event.

The Main Event in PA features a buy-in of $300 and a very healthy guarantee of $200,000. For those with more modest bankrolls, the $50 Mini Main Event provides a more affordable opportunity to compete for a prize pool of $25,000.

Both main events take place towards the end of the Winter Series on January 28. This is also when the $2,000 High Roller with $100,000 guaranteed will happen.

Although most events feature No Limit Hold’em, as is usually the case with PokerStars US MTT series, players will also get a chance to test their skills in other game variations like PLO and HORSE.

$2.25 Million for MI/NJ Shared Player Pool

Players playing on the shared MI/NJ platform will get to play 81 tournaments with a somewhat larger total guarantee. Namely, the Winter Series in New Jersey and Michigan offers $2.25 million up for grabs in total.

The Main Event features the same $300 buy-in, but the guarantee is increased to $250,000. The $50 Mini Main Event offers double the prize pool of that in PA, with the promise of $50,000.

Both of these take place on January 28, as does the $2,000 High Roller, which features the identical $100k guarantee.

In terms of variety, both schedules are quite similar, so players in MI/NJ will get to test their luck and skills in NLHE, PLO, HORSE, and other game variations, with a variety of freezeout and PKO events on the docket every single day.

Trophy Watches and Leaderboards

On top of big cash prizes up for grabs in tournaments, PokerStars US has decided to spice things up, adding 10 special edition watches to Championship events on the schedule. Winners of these events will receive these watches as nice trophies to go along with first-place winnings.

Additionally, both series will feature a leaderboard, with eventual winners taking home $10,000 each. This is yet another reason to set some time aside this January and put on a good grind.

Check out the full Winter Series schedule in the PokerStars US client, where you can filter things by buy-ins, game types, and other relevant factors. This will make it easy to see what tournaments you might be interested in and make plans ahead of time.
