The Spring Championship of Online Poker is one of the most prestigious online series in existence. It attracts players of all shapes and sizes, including the best of the best. Benny ‘RunGodlike’ Glaser has always been a part of that group, but his latest achievement puts him firmly at the top of the pile.
Just a few days back, Glaser managed to win in yet another SCOOP event, adding one more title to his impressive resume. However, this one hit differently, as it was his 11th SCOOP victory, making him the only PokerStars player to reach this number.
The win put Benny ahead of his two closest competitors, Andre “Premove” Skvortsov and Calvin “cal42688” Anderson, who have ten SCOOP victories each.
A Force to Be Reckoned With
When it comes to online poker tournaments, anyone who has even remotely been following the recent happenings is familiar with the name of Benny Glaser. With a combined 20 ‘COOP titles to his name (9 WCOOP and 11 SCOOP), he’s shown time and time again that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
Unlike many players who devote their time to the Cadillac of poker, No Limit Hold’em, Glaser made it his goal to become a mixed games specialist. At this point, we can say without any doubt that he’s more than achieved that goal.
Of his 19 total titles, only two wins came from NLHE tournaments – the one in last year’s SCOOP and the most recent one, where ‘RunGodlike’ triumphed in a $55 Turbo event. Glaser outlasted a massive field of nearly 2,700 players to pocket $19,500 in prize money and, more importantly, his 11th title.
His second triumph in a Hold’em tournament shows that Glaser is no stranger to the most popular poker variant, and he definitely has the skills. He just prefers mixed games, where he probably has a bigger edge over the competition.
Team Lex Leads the Way in the SCOOP League
In other news, the inaugural SCOOP League is slowly entering its exciting finale. All players had until yesterday (May 20) to pick their favorite among four teams represented by four PokerStars Ambassadors.
Now, the registration window is closed, and those who opted for Team Lex have plenty of reason to be excited as their pick is firmly in the lead with 9,970 points. Veldhuis’ team has five of the top ten performing players in the League, including Benny Glaser.
Team Spraggy is currently in the second position with 8,025 points. The best-performing player of the League, ‘FAL1st,’ is member of Team Spraggy, but others on the roster will need to pick up slack if they are to make up the difference of almost 2,000 points.
The other two teams have fallen quite a bit behind, so it seems that the final decision about the League winner will be between Teams Lex and Spraggy, but there is still plenty of time left in the 2024 SCOOP, and surprises are always possible in poker.
Once the winner is announced, everyone who picked the winning team will get to play in a big freeroll, offering generous prizes, including the full package for the UKIPT / ESPT Malaga event in June for the winner.
The Main Event Weekend Approaches
For travelers in the old days, all paths may have led to Rome, but when it comes to the Spring Championship of Online Poker, all paths lead to the Main Event.
Sunday, May 26, will be the culmination of the series, as six Main Events will take place on that day, featuring No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. Each tournament offers three buy-in tiers, offering everyone a chance to get involved.
There are over $11,000,000 in guarantees in Main Events alone, and even the $109 Low NLHE Main Event will give out at least $2,000,000 in prizes. So, there is every reason to get involved and plenty of ways to win your tickets, even if you can’t afford to buy in directly.
The Spring Championship of Online Poker comes around only once a year, and this is the time to put your grinding gear on and focus your efforts on claiming a share of those juicy prize pools.
There is still another week worth of action in the series, so plenty of time to get involved and add potentially claim a SCOOP title or two before things wrap up for the year!
