After six weeks of play, the Cash Game World Championship at CoinPoker has finally found its winner. Finishing well ahead of the competition is ‘PRODIGY,’ the player who managed to put in a rather impressive volume and make a significant amount of money in the process.
When it was all said and done, ‘PRODIGY’ ended up winning $681,000 over the course of 43,529 poker hands he played during the Championship.
It is a noteworthy victory, not only because he managed to come ahead of some of the best cash game grinders out there but also because he did so in style, with winnings of almost $300k more than the runner-up.
Six Weeks of Crazy High Stakes Action
Tournament series and championships are commonplace in online poker, but CoinPoker decided to do something different, launching a Cash Game World Championship at the start of December of last year.
The goal was simple: to find the best high-stakes player among some of the best grinders out there. To get involved, players had to play on at least one special table, which featured no rake but had the Tony G rule in place, meaning that all winning hands had to be shown.
CoinPoker added incentives for the participating players and fans alike, with special weekend games that were invite-only, featuring those who accomplished special feats, like pulling the coolest bluff, making the sickest hero call, or having a really bad luck in all-ins.
For some of these categories, like coolest bluffs and sickest hero calls, fans were essential as they voted for their favorite hands and players to help them get a spot in televised weekend games.
The winner would be determined based on the $EV winnings over the course of the Championship, with the stipulation that the minimum of 20,000 hands had to be played, and there was a very nice reward waiting for the one who emerged victorious.
‘PRODIGY’ Finishes Way Ahead of the Field
After six weeks of action, the question of the Cash Game World Champion was answered beyond any doubt. The player going under the alias ‘PRODIGY’ finished with $680k in actual winnings and $590k in $EV winnings to secure the victory.
His win wasn’t a close call. It was actually the opposite, as the second-place finisher ‘riggedeck’ posted $302k in $EV winnings, while the cash game legend ‘LLinusLL0ve’ in third had $258k.
As the first Cash Game World Champion, ‘PRODIGY’ received an engraved Rolex Daytona Ghost watch worth $50,000. It is an apt trophy for this achievement!
The Cash Game World Championship at CoinPoker was a unique event that featured non-stop action, and fans were able to observe a lot of it on live streams. So, the Championship wasn’t just for the players, but also for all poker fans out there as they got to enjoy some real-time high stakes action.
With this event now officially in the books, it will be interesting to see what CoinPoker has in store next as the new year rolls out, bringing new poker hopes, goals, and challenges.
