The Kc on the river completed Rolle’s flush, and this is where his elite thought process took over. With the pot sitting at roughly 5 BB, Rolle elected to bet a tiny 1.7 BB.

As he explained to his audience on stream, this sizing was highly intentional. A small bet accomplishes two critical things in this exact node: it guarantees a raise from any worse flush, and it heavily induces bluff-raises from specific missed holdings. Rolle explicitly identified hands containing a single club blocker – like J9 with the 9c or JT with the Tc – as prime candidates that Gauthier might turn into a bluff to attack a weak-looking bet.

The trap sprang flawlessly. Gauthier took the bait, raising to 8 BB. Rolle immediately shoved all-in, and Gauthier snap-called, revealing Kd Th. Gauthier had rivered top pair, but he was completely crushed by Rolle’s flush, abruptly ending the tournament and securing Rolle the $1.37M victory.
