What Is A Wheel In Poker

In poker, the term “wheel” refers to the lowest possible straight, which is A, 2, 3, 4, 5.

This straight is sometimes called the “bicycle” or “bicycle wheel.” Depending on the poker format, the wheel can be either a very strong or a very weak poker hand.

For example, the wheel is the strongest possible hand in lowball games like Razz, while in games like 2-7 triple draw, this hand is considered very weak.

In Hold’em and PLO, the wheel falls under straight combinations. The straight is the 6th strongest hand in these formats, but the wheel is the weakest possible straight combination.
