Online poker site CoinPoker has added to its roster of star-studded ambassadors, signing British former professional boxer and four-time world champion Carl Froch.
The crypto based poker site is open to worldwide players and has now delved into the sporting arena several times in 2024, becoming the new regional sponsor of the Argentina national football team last month.
Other prominent ambassadors include poker celebrity Tony G, who has a background in sponsoring the basketball and rowing federations in Lithuania, and former Austrian footballer Mario Mosböck.
Carl Froch’s Background
Carl ‘The Cobra’ Froch holds multiple super-middleweight world championships, including WBC, IBF and WBA titles, winning 33 of his 35 career fights, 24 by knockout.
He was rated Fighter of the Year in 2012 by BoxRec, the best British boxer by the BBC in 2013, and Sportsman of the Year by GQ magazine the same year.
Retiring in 2014 after defeating George Groves in front of a record breaking Wembley crowd, Froch was awarded an MBE for his services to sport in 2015 and then inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2023.
Turning 47 last month, Froch still has a love for boxing and has worked as an analyst and commentator for Sky Sports, with close to a million followers today across his X (@Carl_Froch), YouTube (Froch on Fighting) and Instagram (@carlcobrafroch).
He can often be seen commenting on the latest goings on with the likes of Tyson Fury, Conor McGregor, Jake Paul, and this week interviewed Dorian Yates on his YouTube channel.
The Cobra’s Love of Poker
Outside of the ring Carl Froch is also an avid poker fan, as are several top boxing names such as Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan, Leron Washington, David Haye, and Audley Harrison, many of whom described how poker helped them improve their boxing and vice versa, given the mental and psychological dynamics of both.
Carl once replied to a fan that poker is ‘probably harder mentally as you have to concentrate for hours, although you definitely need good mental strength to be a top fighter.’
As far back as 2012 Carl represented 888 Poker, and in 2015 made appearances in televised cash games at the famous Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham, England.
He also became an ambassador for PartyPoker that year, playing in their Grand Prix live tournament events, the Caribbean Poker Party alongside English poker pro Simon ‘Aces’ Trumper, and online tournaments with bantamweight world champion Stuart Hall.

About CoinPoker
Unlike most online poker sites that aren’t accessible to players in all countries, CoinPoker takes advantage of cryptocurrency to be completely decentralized and open globally.
New players can open an account in minutes from any country with minimal ID requirements, and place bets at the tables using USDT which is equivalent to US dollars.
Founded in 2017, CoinPoker has built a strong reputation as a safe online poker site, licensed in Curacao and producing a complete report on coinpoker.com of its proof of reserves visible on the blockchain – another advantage of crypto is that players can see for themselves that user deposits are segregated and secure, held in ringfenced cold storage wallets.
No advanced knowledge of crypto is required to play however, with the downloadable software and app being simple and easy to use, and available for Windows, Android or iOS.
CoinPoker also partners with industry leading security company Fireblocks which provides multi-auth vaults for user funds, and utilizes Ethereum’s cryptographic hash function to verify the randomness of its RNG at the tables.
Its poker stakes range from as low as $0.02/$0.05 to as high as $500/$1000, occasionally even higher in special exhibition matches – CoinPoker famously hosted the largest online poker pot in history in a $5000/$10000 Pot Limit Omaha cash game.
Tournament buy-ins also range from completely free up to $25,000, such as during the site’s flagship tournament series the CSOP – crypto series of poker.
Game types include Pot Limit Omaha, No Limit Hold’em, Sit and Go tournaments and multi-table tournaments (MTTs) with new formats and promotions constantly on offer. Fans of casino games will also find those – as well as being a poker site CoinPoker also has an attached casino.
Many notable online poker professionals are also CoinPoker ambassadors or partners – including Jonathan Little, Charlie Carrell, Patrick ‘Pads’ Leonard, and the aforementioned Tony G and Mario Mosböck – keeping Carl Froch in good company.
Follow CoinPoker’s socials on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit, and use Carl’s promo code FROCH when creating an account to access his exclusive freerolls.
