The 2023 edition of the World Championship of Online Poker kicks off today at PokerStars. The world’s biggest online tournament series is back, featuring $80,000,000 in prizes across the board and offering three distinct orbits to accommodate all bankrolls.
The series will start with several events taking place today and will last until the first week of October, with a number of tournaments taking place every day and the action picking up on weekends.
Event #1 is a Phase tournament with multiple starting flights and big guarantees for all three buy-in levels, but beyond that, there are six other numbered WCOOP events taking place today at PokerStars to get the ball rolling.
Hit the Road Running With 2023 WCOOP
This year, the series officially starts with WCOOP 02, the Kickoff. Like the rest of the events on the schedule, the Kickoff features three buy-in levels and guarantees of $50k, $200k, and $300k, respectively.
This is followed by WCOOP 03, a Progressive KO event with somewhat higher buy-ins as well, offering $150k for the low and $400k for medium and high versions.

With the first day of the series being Sunday (as is often the case), the Sunday Million will be playing out under the WCOOP name as well. The regular $109 tournament will be the low version of WCOOP 04, while the medium and high versions of the same event feature buy-ins of $1,050 and $10,300, respectively.
All three of these tournaments come with a cool guarantee of $1,000,000.
There are two more numbered WCOOP events on the schedule for this Sunday, coupled with a few more tournaments that feature the series branding but aren’t a part of the official schedule. Sundays are always great for tournament action on PokerStars, but this one is especially so.
A Month of Exciting Tournament Action
For serious grinders and casual fans of online tournament action, the WCOOP period is probably the best month on the online poker calendar. With several events with big guarantees every day and buy-ins to accommodate every bankroll, there is a lot to be excited about.
Looking at the full 2023 WCOOP schedule, you’ll notice that this year’s series brings something for everyone, including a number of Championship events. If you’re looking for competition and to prove your skills, these tournaments will give you every opportunity to do so.
On the other hand, there are plenty of events you can get involved with for $5.50 and $11, and while the fields in these will certainly be big, the prizes for those who manage to beat the odds will be equally as big.
On top of all this, PokerStars has recently launched its Power Path feature, allowing you to focus your bankroll and your efforts on winning entries into larger buy-in events.
Power Path provides the best opportunities for casual players to win some seats without having to deal with a host of grinders that you’ll come across in most regular satellites.
The World Championship of Online Poker kicks off today, and the best time to get involved is now. The more opportunities you give yourself, the better your chance will be to go all the way in one of these prestigious events!
