This October, Cash Game World Championship is making a comeback to CoinPoker for the third time, but this time around, instead of the usual suspect, it will feature the great game of Pot Limit Omaha.
Running October 6 – November 2, the PLO Cash Game World Championship will feature $55,000 in prizes up for grabs, as well as rake-free tables. Players will have an opportunity to battle it out on the virtual felt, prove their skills, and walk away with plenty to show for their efforts.
Over the first two iterations, the CGWC picked up a lot of traction on CoinPoker, attracting a number of big names to the virtual felt. Now, with the operator’s team of friends and ambassadors featuring some of those big names, we expect the event to generate even more attention.

A Month-Long PLO Battleground
It’s no secret that PLO has been growing in popularity in recent years, with many players looking for a more exciting and dynamic alternative to Texas Hold’em. The upcoming CGWC on CoinPoker provides further incentives to substitute the two hole cards with four.
While many operator’s promotions are geared toward recreational players, this isn’t one of them. The Championship has been designed for pros and dedicated grinders willing, ready, and able to put in the hours and survive many swings inherent to PLO.
Players looking to get involved will have an opportunity to do so on specifically CGWC tables on $2.50/$5 and $10/$20 tables. Games will be played in the six-handed format with a one big blind ante per player, and no heads-up play will count toward the CGWC leaderboards.
All branded tables will be rake-free during the event, and there is a special rule in place that will see the winner of every hand automatically show their cards, regardless of what street they win on. To get on the leaderboard, players must play at least 20,000 poker hands during the competition.
Leaderboard Prizes & VIP Games
CoinPoker is largely sticking to the tried and tested formula for the upcoming Championship. By playing at branded tables, players will generate leaderboard points. What’s interesting is that points will be counted based on the EV BB number, which is the expected value of big blinds won.
- One leaderboard point per 1 EV BB at $2.50/$5
- 2.5 leaderboard points per 1 EV BB at $10/$20
This points system somewhat reduces the variance and makes the competition more focused on players’ skills. Someone running super-hot and hitting all of their two and four-outters will not be rewarded with additional points just because they’re getting lucky.
When it is all said and done, the top five finishers will get to share in the $29,000 prize pool, with the PLO Cash Game World Championship winner walking away with a $15,000 Rolex.
In addition to the monthly leaderboard, CoinPoker will once again run weekly VIP games, with five players awarded $1,000, and two VIP guests awarded $2,000 to play in this $5,000 seven-handed PLO game every Sunday.
As for the five qualifiers, they’ll be picked from different categories, such as:
- Coolest hand played – based on social media votes on Twitter/X
- Most hands played
- Biggest loser in cash terms ($)
- Player most under $EV
- The highest VPIP% (requiring at least 2,000 hands of six-handed play)
The entire poker community is invited to take part in this competition. If not by playing, you can join the PLO Players Union Discord to submit your picks for the coolest hand and follow all the action at the tables on CoinPoker’s social media channels.
The PLO Cash Game World Championship is a must-play event for all serious Pot Limit Omaha grinders out there, and it is bound to spice things up, providing fun alternatives for those not into grinding tournaments or nitting it up on Hold’em tables.
