One of the most iconic brands in the gambling world, Horseshoe, is back in Las Vegas, now situated in a prime location on the Las Vegas Strip for the first time in city’s history.
Poker players and gamblers from far and wide have heard of Horseshoe, the home of the original WSOP, and the legendary no-limit casino where many true legends of the gambling world rose to fame.
On Friday, March 24, the new Horseshoe property finally opened its door following a full year of renovations, and welcomed guests for a special opening event that featured an epic lineup of gambling legends as special guests.
Among those included in the opening ceremony were Jack Binion, the son of the original Horseshoe’s owner, Jack Effel, Matrass Mack, and none other than Doyle Brunson, the godfather of poker.
The location was opened some two months before the upcoming WSOP, which many expect to be the biggest in the event’s history, and which will be returning to its original home, the Horseshoe Casino, after many years.
A Glamorous Opening Ceremony Commemorates the Launch of Horseshoe
The Horseshoe opening ceremony included several parts. In the most official segment of the evening, Jack Binion presented the Caesars Entertainment leadership with a special horseshoe from his family’s ranch, inviting good luck upon the new collaborative venture.
The celebration continued into the night, as showgirls wearing original Jubilee! costumes danced, confetti cannons took their shots at the unsuspecting crowd, and all the visitors were treated to plenty of high-end refreshments.
Special Horseshoe guests were invited to an additional reception hosted by Jack Binion himself, which was held at the newly opened Jack Binion’s Steak.
A Q&A session was also held during this reception, led by none other but VP of WSOP Jack Effel, and with Brunson, Binion, and sports betting legend “Matrass Mack” in attendance.

Before the ceremony was done, the guests got to see and experience the new Horseshoe venue first-hand, along with the allure of the “old Las Vegas” and all the thrill that came with high-stakes gambling, bright colors, and dazzling lights that once turned the unassuming dessert town into Sin City.
Plenty of New Features at the Horseshoe
The new Horseshoe includes a number of brand-new, never before seen features, which will make the upcoming WSOP special and unique.
The first two have to do with food choices. Players will now have an opportunity to dine at Jack Binion’s Steak, a brand new branded steak house with prime selection of meats, and M.Y. Asia, the first Las Vegas based restaurant of legendary Chef Martin Yan.
Beside that, the Horseshoe features a massive Arcade, which includes over 80 super-sized games. Players will get to enjoy during in their breaks, which may be just what the doctor ordered for tilt-relief after the worst of beats.
Then, there is the first-ever WSOP Hall of Fame Room, which will feature 18 poker tables and images of all the Hall of Famers in one place. This room is expected to be the home of tournament poker at Horseshoe year-round once the WSOP is completed.
WSOP Is Coming Back to Horseshoe
The WSOP made its way to Las Vegas Strip last year, and starting May 30, it will be back at the legendary Horseshoe Las Vegas, along with the adjacent Paris Las Vegas.
The epic poker festival is expected to be one of the biggest ever. It could easily end up breaking quite a few records, with the new Horseshoe venue sure to add to the overall experience.
With players from all over the world already planning their trips to Sin City this summer, we expect plenty of heated action, record numbers, and some of the most interesting WSOP stories ever told, so stay tuned!
