Last Updated: March 18, 2024
The Mohegan Sun Poker Room has been a popular destination for poker players in the south-eastern region of Connecticut.
The full-service casino offers guests a variety of gaming, entertainment and dining experiences.
Those who played at the Mohegan Sun before 2019 would have had to deal with navigating the vast casino floor for some time before finding the poker room.
You will be pleased to know that the new Mohegan Sun Poker Room is in the Hall of the Lost Tribes inside the Casino of the Earth by the Autumn Entrance.
This has made the poker room much easier to find and can be accessed more conveniently from the Indian Summer and RiverView parking garages.
Other amenities that you will find useful at the Mohegan Sun Poker Room are:
- Automatic Shufflers (keeps the game flowing)
- USB Charging Slots
- Tableside food and drink services
- Massages
- Phone in List
- TV’s
- WiFi
With over 30 poker tables, a wide variety of daily poker tournaments, and cash game offerings, you will no doubt be able to find a seat at an action-packed game as you look to have a good time and make some coin.
Mohegan Sun Poker Room Review
I’m a big fan of poker rooms in casinos having their own private space, and the Mohegan Sun poker room moving to avoid the hustle and bustle of the main casino floor is a good move in my eyes.
The poker tables have ample space between them, and the high ceilings remove any feelings of being confined.
You have the Johnny Rockets dining area to the right, and if you are waiting for your seat, you can relax at the bar and play some video poker to pass the time.
As you would expect, the room is filled with the Native American décor, which gives it a pleasant look.
You get to avoid any issues related to cigarettes as the room has a no smoking policy and is further buffered by a smoke-free slots area.
Chairs are comfortable and adjustable, and the tables have clean and tidy cloth. Cards and chips are of good quality as well, so you’ll get to enjoy a fairly pleasant experience when playing here, even if you’re in for a long session.
Mohegan Sun Poker Room Cash Games
The Mohegan Sun Poker room offers a wide variety of games for you to play. However, most of the action revolves around $1/$2 and $2/$5 No Limit Hold'em cash tables, more so on Saturday nights where you can see a dozen $1/$2 tables, alongside a handful of tables offering $2/$5.
Daily poker cash games offered at the Mohegan Sun include:
- 7 Card Stud
- Limit Texas Hold’em
- No Limit Texas Hold’em
- Badugi
- Omaha
- Razz
- 2-7 Triple Draw (very underrated and unappreciated game)
If you can’t find what you are looking for, the Mohegan Sun poker room will spread games and limits that are approved if there is enough interest to open a table.
However, if you want to play the highest limit games, more Omaha, and other poker variants, Foxwoods poker room is likely the better place for you to play.
Mohegan Sun Poker Room Promotions
Promotions at the Mohegan Sun fall short when compared to other poker rooms. However, this may just be due to the current pandemic. Players can earn $1 per hour in comps, and there are high hand jackpots that come in fairly frequently.
If you manage to play at least 72 hours of cash games at the Mohegan Sun, you’ll also receive a $10 food voucher, which can hardly be described as impressive.
Mohegan Sun Poker Room Tournaments
Daily tournaments all play as No Limit Hold'em, and there some bounty tournaments throughout the week as well.
A nice feature that has been newly added to the daily tournaments is that if you register for a tournament in the first level, you'll get extra 5,000 chips added to your starting stack.

Mohegan Sun Poker Room Staff
Regular players of the Mohegan Sun Poker Room speak highly of the team members that help keep the game we love to play running.
Dealers are professional and skilled, capable of dealing out many poker hands per hour, and the serving staff is excellent.
It has been noted the Mohegan Sun has done well to retain the competent staff since the Encore arrived in New England, poaching some of the best poker staff from other nearby poker rooms.
Mohegan Sun Poker Room Parking
You’ll have no problem finding space at the Mohegan Sun Poker Room parking area. There are more than 13,000 spaces available for the visitors, so you’ll be in good shape.
The room does offer valet parking, but given the current situation, this service has been discontinued until further notice. You can still self-park at the Mohegan Sun parking, though, which is what most players prefer anyway.
The parking is free for all guests. If you have a reason to believe that you might not be able to find space (if there is a big event going on at the venue, for example), you can reserve your spot ahead of time, which will cost you around $30.
Those of you with Electric Vehicles will be offered complimentary charging stations, while those with RVs will need to get a permit to park their vehicles.

Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino – What to Expect
As you would expect, the main décor of the hotel takes inspiration from the Mohegan culture and gives the place a great feel and look.
Hotel rooms are spacious and bright but more subdued than that of the main hotel. Deluxe rooms start at 450 square feet with suites ranging from 845 to 3,500 square feet.
Dining Options
There are nearly 50 dining options available to you at the Mohegan Sun, from quick bites at Chick-fil-a and Dunkin’ Doughnuts to more upscale dining facilities.
The favorite of many is Jasper White’s Summer Shack, which offers delicious chowder and fried shrimp and chicken.
If neither of those floats your boat, you'll be able to explore and find something that your stomach is craving. One of the gems at Mohegan Sun is the Clay Pipe Cigar Bar: it’s quaint, cool and the drinks are stiff.
Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino – Things to Do (non-gambling activities)
Long sessions at the poker felt can take it out of you, and everyone needs a break from poker every now and then. During these brief break periods, there are plenty of things to do that aren’t casino related.
The Mohegan Sun Arena is one of the best music and entertainment venues in the area, and you have also got the Wolf Den, which offers free shows for you to view, which has hosted acts like MC Hammer, Blue Oyster Cult, and Salt-N-Pepa – all for free!
The Comix Roadhouse offers a great change of pace where you can see some live stand-up performance as well as have a few drinks to see off the night.
If you are after something more energetic, then there are plenty of bars and clubs for you to visit as well.

Final Thoughts on the Mohegan Sun Poker Room
The Mohegan Sun offers a very good poker experience to new and seasoned players alike, and the new room only helps give players the best experience they can have.
It is one of the premier destinations in New England, along with Foxwoods. The poker room and casino are comfortable with plenty of variety to keep you from getting bored.
The hotel is easy on the eye, and whether you are on your own or with family or friends, there's plenty to do outside the casino. If you get fed up with playing poker or table games, you'll be able to find plenty to do apart from twiddling your thumbs in your hotel room while waiting for the next session.
