The big blind special in poker is when the player in the big blind position unexpectedly makes a strong hand on the flop and wins the pot. This occurs when no other players raise preflop, so the big blind can see the flop with a hand they would have otherwise folded from a different position.

Big Blind Special Poker Example:

Let’s say you’re playing in the Big Blind position and have a weak 6 3 hand. As other players limp in, you can see the flop for free. The flop produces 7 5 4 on the board, helping you make a big blind special.
