Bum Hunting

Bum hunting is a poker term that describes the action of targeting weaker poker players in order to exploit them for profit. A bum hunter will refuse to play against players who are, in their opinion, stronger. Although many poker players look for favorable tables, actively seeking only weak players is unethical and frowned upon.

Bum Hunting Poker Example:

A bum hunter might stalk poker cash games, waiting for a weaker opponent to sit and play. If they determine they have the edge and can win, the bum hunter will play against the weaker player. If they find out the opposite is true, they will sit out the game, or leave the table in search of a different target.
