Stand Pat

Stand pat is a phrase used in draw poker variants, and it indicates the action of keeping your existing hand unchanged. By taking the stand pat option, you signify that you don’t want to draw any new cards. To signal that you want to stand pat, you can either verbally announce it or do it by knocking on the table with your knuckles.

Stand Pat Poker Example:

Let’s say you’re playing a game of California lowball draw poker, and you get dealt a Six Low hand. Since you have the second-strongest hand in the game, you can decide to happily stand pat.
