Vig

Vigorish in poker, simply known as vig, is the casino’s commission for organizing cash games and tournaments. The casino uses the vig to cover its operating costs and ensure profits, as the house doesn’t directly participate in poker games. It’s also called juice and rake.

Vig Poker Example:

In a poker tournament, the buy-in might be presented as $100+ $10. This means that the $100 goes into the prize pool, while the $10 is the vig that the casino takes.

In poker cash games, the casino might take 5% of every pot as the vig. This sum will also be limited up to a certain maximum amount.
