Last Updated: September 6, 2024
Following several days of preliminary events and satellites, the World Poker Tour Prime Liechtenstein Championship finally started today, with a total of 212 players registering for Day 1A action so far.
The CHF 1,100 event started strong and attracted players from all over the region for the first of its five starting flights, slowly building towards its CHF 1,000,000 guaranteed prize pools.
While the list of players already in the event may not be made up of poker’s A-listers, the likes of Simon Feistle, Andreas Mages, and Ramon Barmettler were among those who started their tournament today.

Said El-Yousfi Leads Into the Dinner Break
Over the past few days, Casino Grand has been buzzing with action, as preliminary WPT events and satellites for the Championship raged on across the casino floor, along with plenty of cash game action along the way.
Today at noon, the first players took their seats for the Championship, each starting with 40,000 in tournament chips and set to play over a dozen 40-minute levels throughout the day.
With late registration open throughout the first 10 levels, the field grew from a few dozen who started in level 1 to over 200 by the end of registration. At the end of registration, the tournament clock displayed 212 entries, 27 of whom will make it to Day 2 and automatically make the money.
Plenty of big stacks could be seen across the room at dinner break, with mid-stakes poker veteran Said El-Yousfi from France led the field with 312,500 in chips.
He was followed by the likes of Matthias Kuhl with 204,500, Samuel Klocker with 203,500, and Simon Fabian with 197,000 to name a few of the players who managed to accumulate big stacks over the early levels of play.
WPT Liechtenstein Championship Looking to Break Records
The WPT Prime Liechtenstein Championship returns for the second consecutive year and looks to grow its attendance and prize pool record from 2023.
Last year, a total of 1,644 players paid the CHF 1,100 entry fee to play in the tournament, with Hungarian David Kozma going all the way and winning the grand prize of CHF 224,953.
This year’s Championship event will feature a total of five Day 1 flights over the next two calendar days, with two flights played each day.
While the 212 entries in the first flight don’t quite put the event on pace to break last year’s attendance record, it is worth noting that Day 1A flights tend to bring in the lowest number of players across major events all over the world.
As Day 2 action gets closer, we can expect to see plenty more players arrive in Liechtenstein and take their seats in the Championship and make a run at the WPT Prime title.
The event will need only 1,000 runners in total to reach its guaranteed CHF 1,000,000, which is a number that seems to be well within the reach of one of the most popular mid-major events in Central Europe.
Stay tuned for more updates from the coming days as WPT Prime Liechtenstein works its way towards day 2 and the final table, which will be played on Sunday and Monday respectively.
Make Your Mark on WPT Prime Liechtenstein
The WPT Prime Liechtenstein festival is in full swing, and there is still plenty of time to take your seat and make a mark in the next few days.
Friday and Saturday will be jam-packed with WPT Prime Championship action, with each day bringing two new Day 1 flights at noon and 05:00 PM respectively.
With over a thousand players expected to attend the four flights and re-entry allowed throughout the duration, you will have plenty of chances to secure your place on Sunday, Day 2 of the event.
If you should happen to fall short of that goal or bust early on Day 2, the CHF 600 Mystery Bounty event at 01:00 PM and the CHF 1,980 High Roller at 05:00 PM offer additional opportunities to compete and save your trip.
The final trip saver will play out on Monday at 03:00 PM, as the CHF 220 Closer event opens its doors and gives players one last shot at making a final table during this year’s WPT Prime Liechtenstein festival.
For all the players already at Casino Grand, the action is already at a boiling point, and for everyone else, there is still time to make your way out to Liechtenstein and battle in another exciting edition of the WPT Prime poker tour.
