The legendary Wynn Casino in Las Vegas has been buzzing with action over the past few days, with the 2024 WPT World Championship festival picking up some serious speed. The Prime Championship is already underway, but there is a lot more to come.
A part of what the WPT has in store for all players is a special meet-up game taking place on December 17. This will be a unique opportunity to play against several big names, including none other than Phil Ivey!
For a few hours on the morning of Wednesday, December 17, Ivey and the rest of the WPT ambassadors will drop down in stakes to join the action at low-stakes No Limit Hold’em tables, and everyone’s invited to join.
Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity
On Wednesday, December 17, between nine in the morning and noon, the Wynn will reserve a number of $1/$2 and $2/$5 tables for the big Christmas Meet-Up game.
Headlining the lineup of pros who will frequent the tables is arguably the best poker player ever, Phil Ivey himself. You won’t catch Tiger Woods of Poker playing these stakes ever outside of special events, so this is a very special opportunity to play a few hands with the GOAT.
Joining Ivey will be many other familiar faces, including hardened pros and World Poker Tour stalwarts. Some of the names on the list include the WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage, reknown WPT anchor Lynn Gilmartin, and the likes of Tony Dunst and Vince van Patten.
Looking at the “hardened pros” section, we have Ethan “Rampage” Yau, Xuan Liu, Mariano Grandoli, Jamie Kerstetter, and Jesse Sylvia, among others.
While these players are certainly very experienced and better than an average $1/$2 rec, you can be pretty sure they won’t be looking to play their A+ game. These meet-ups are always in good spirits with an emphasis on having fun, so they won’t be shy about distributing some of their wealth to the masses.
No Reservations Accepted
The interest for these big meet-up games is always high, and with the whole thing happening over the course of just few hours, not everyone will be able to get a seat.
There is no option to reserve a seat ahead of time, so your best bet is to come to the Wynn early on December 17 and put your name on the list. It will be a first-come, first-served system, so try to be there as soon as they open the list.
Guest players will be making rounds across the room, so regardless of what table you get, you can expect to play some of them. This adds a bit to game dynamics, as you can be sure that people will be looking to play against Ivey or Rampage, for example, as much as possible before they move on.
Once again, it all happens on Wednesday, December 17, at the Wynn from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. All action will take place on NL200 and NL500 tables, so you won’t need to put your bankroll on the line to get in the mix!
