Cold Deck

A cold deck is a poker term for a deck of cards that is fixed in order to give one player an advantage over their opponent.

In a  cold deck situation, both the winning and losing player will have a strong hand in order to produce a lot of action and build a big pot.

Cold Deck Poker Example:

Let’s say that the first player gets an AcQc hand, and the second player receives pocket Kings. The flop then brings a Kc Jc Tc on the board.

If the board produces another King on the turn or the river, the second player can justifiably assume that they have the strongest hand with quads.

But, what they don’t know is that they have been cold-decked. Their opponent has a royal flush and is actually the winner.
