Fast Play

Fast playing in poker is when a player bets or raises very aggressively in order to prevent their opponent from outdrawing them on later streets. This is the opposite of slow playing a hand, in which the player opts for lots of checking and calling despite having a strong hand.

Fast Play Poker Example:

Let’s say you flopped a three-of-a-kind hand, but the board is wet and might help your opponent make a straight or flush on the turn or the river. Fast playing can be very effective in this scenario, as it helps protect you against these draws.
