Protection Bet

A protection bet in poker is a bet made to protect a hand that is strong but vulnerable to a draw. The purpose of the protection bet is to make opponents call with poor pot odds or fold.

Protection Bet Poker Example:

Let’s say that you have the best hand after the flop, but three of your opponents have a good chance of drawing an out on the turn or the river. By making a protection bet, you can make some of them fold and increase your winning chances.
