Showdown Value

The term showdown value in poker refers to a hand that has a certain value at showdown and is more likely to win than not. In other words, it’s not as strong of a hand to bet for value but can win at showdown and has value if you can get there cheaply.

Showdown Value Poker Example:

Let’s say that you have an 8 5 hand, and the board after the river reads Q 8 7 3 2, your hand has some showdown value, as you have a pair. While you wouldn’t want to value bet with this hand, you still have a decent chance of winning the pot.
