The largest online tournament series, the World Championship of Online Poker, is coming back to PokerStars this Sunday with $80 million in guarantees across the board!
Running September 8 – October 2, the 2024 PokerStars WCOOP will be the 23rd iteration of the popular series, offering heaps of non-stop tournament action across all stakes.
There are 123 events on the docket in total, with most of them featuring three buy-in orbits, for a grand total of 379 tournaments. You can get in the action for as little as $5.50 on the low end, while on the other end of the spectrum, the largest events come with a price tag of $25,000.
Big Schedule to Fit Every Style & Budget
The World Championship of Online Poker always delivers, and this seems to be the case for the 2024 iteration as well.
The series comprises almost a full month of action, with tournaments ranging from $5.50 to $25,000, so players of all shapes and sizes can get involved and compete for large prize pools and the prestige that comes with winning a WCOOP event or two.
Staying true to the form the 2024 WCOOP will feature three buy-in orbits: Low, Medium, and High, and all events, with a few rare exceptions, are available in all three orbits, usually running simultaneously.
A grand total of $80,000,000 has been guaranteed for the series, but if past is any indicator, this number will be blown out of the water by the time the WCOOP wraps up. The prize money is nicely distributed across the board, so even players in the low orbit will compete for juicy five and six-figure prize pools.
In terms of variety, there is no other series that comes anywhere close to the WCOOP. In addition to the usual suspects like No Limit Hold’em and PLO, the series features 8-Game Mix, 7 Card Stud, Razz, 2-7 Single Draw, 5 Card PLO, and much more.
Six Main Events With Over $12 Million Guaranteed
There are six tournaments dubbed the Main Event on the 2024 WCOOP schedule. Three big ones are of the No Limit Hold’em variety, while the other three feature the great game of PLO. All six tournaments take place on the final Sunday of the series, on September 29.
- $109 NLHE Main Event – L – $2,500,000 GTD
- $1,050 NLHE Main Event – M – $3,500,000 GTD
- $10,300 NLHE Main Event – H – $5,000,000 GTD
- $109 PLO Main Event – L – $200,000 GTD
- $1,050 PLO Main Event – M – $500,000 GTD
- $10,300 PLO Main Event – H – $800,000 GTD
In total, there is over $12,000,000 guaranteed across all Main Events, and players have plenty of opportunity to qualify for any and all of these big tournaments over the course of the WCOOP, with satellites starting as low as $0.50.
WCOOP Leaderboard, Trophies, and More
All WCOOP event winners will receive a special trophy as a reminder of their victory. This is a nice touch and an additional reason to join the battle. For many players, having a WCOOP trophy on display is just as important as the money that comes with winning one of these tournaments.
For those who grind the hardest and perform the best over the course of the series, there are WCOOP Player of the Series Leader Boards with $100,000 in total prizes up for grabs. There is one leaderboard for each orbit, as well as one encompassing the entire series.
All players except those in Germany, Sweden, and Belgium are eligible for leader board prizes. Players from these countries aren’t eligible due to local regulations but are, of course, welcome to play in the World Championship of Online Poker.
There are four Women’s events on this year’s schedule, and winners of those events, in addition to the prize money and trophies, will also receive £1,200 packages to the Women’s Winter Festival taking place in London in November.
Finally, you can use your Power Path tickets to enter WCOOP events, as Silver and Gold bundles will be filled with tickets. With Power Path starting at just $0.50 and heaps of free tickets up for grabs every day at PokerStars, there are no excuses.
