Things have become quite heated in this year’s WCOOP League, bringing forth the kind of excitement we expected from this competition.

Although players aren’t fighting for monetary prizes, there is clearly a lot of pride at stake, and each team wants to walk away the winner. PokerStars players who back the winners, on the other hand, will reap more concrete benefits.

With some 270 tournaments now in the books, we have a clear league leader, and that’s the team Peace&Love, led by its captain, Sebastian “peace&loove” Huber. Things are still far from over, though, as at least two other teams are in striking distance.

Team Peace&Love Breaks Away from the Pack

The WCOOP League draft resulted in six very colorful and quite different teams, creating an exciting competition but also making it harder to figure out who will take the crown when the dust settles.

As things stand right now, those who backed the team ‘Peace&Love’, captained by Sebastian Huber, have a lot of reason to be excited. Huber’s team is currently 1,000 points ahead of the second-place team ‘Tonkaaaa’ and 1,200 points in front of ‘Easywithaces’.

Huber’s team has the best-performing player ‘FAL1st’ in its roster and the player ‘king153246’ contributed a lot to the overall score with 1,525 points. However, it was Huber’s latest victory in a $11 buy-in HORSE event that really pushed the team ahead of the pack.

To add some spice to the whole thing, just hours before Peace&Love captured the title, Spraggy took it to Twitter to tease his opponent. Apparently, Sebastian had a really good feeling about this one.

Currently sitting in second place, team ‘Tonkaaaa’ has some work to do to make up the 1,000 points difference. However, with the run Talbot has had in this WCOOP, it’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility.

Together with ‘FAL1st,’ he is the only player to capture four wins this series, and between him and Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, there are bound to be some more points before the League concludes.

Team ‘Easywithaces’ led by Fintan Hand could still overcome the 1,200 points deficit to come out on top.

For the remaining three teams, it will be an uphill battle, but we’ve seen some really unexpected things happen in poker tournaments, so it’s too early to dismiss anyone.

WCOOP League Freeroll Is Coming

In case you missed the news, the WCOOP League is a competition that all PokerStars players can take part in by supporting the team they think will win.

When the draft was completed, players had the opportunity to place a bet on the team they thought would win the League (or to back multiple teams).

Those who end up backing the winning team will receive an entry into a freeroll on October 5, and this event will award some pretty cool prizes, including a $10,300 Power Path Gold Pass that can be used for different PokerStars events to cover tournament entries, travel costs, etc.

In total, the tournament will reward 175 players with Silver and Bronze Passes, NAPT satellite tickets, and Power Path Step 3 entries, so there will be a lot to play for.

Those who backed ‘Peace&Love’ are sitting pretty right now as their team seems like a runaway train safely headed for the final station. For those who decided to skip on this pick, it will be a nail-biting finish, but at least there won’t be a lack of excitement.

Either way, all things will be revealed in a few days’ time, but if you didn’t back the leading team, don’t worry. All of these players have a very strong competitive drive, so you can rest assured none of them will be giving up. It will be a battle all the way to the end!
