It’s been an amazing year for the World Poker Tour (WPT), as the organizers were able to put together a packed schedule with dozens of events around the globe. Next big event on US soil is the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship, which kicks-off on April 19.

The WPT has already arrived in Florida, with preliminary events being played at the world-famous Guitar Hotel since April 3 and plenty more on the agenda before the Championship event.

With dozens of side events and satellites being thrown in the mix, the festival offers plenty of opportunity for poker players from all parts of the world to compete with reasonable buyins and massive guarantees on the line.

If you are not yet in Florida, keep on reading and find out why you might want to make it to the festival at least for the Championship event, but also a number of other tournaments that make Seminole Hard Rock one of the top poker destinations this spring.

Packed Tournament Schedule for Everyone’s Taste

The best thing about the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown is that it’s a festival that caters to poker players of all calibers.

Since the first day of the festival, players have been offered a chance to compete for massive guarantees while only investing some very affordable buyins.

The first event of the festival was a $400 NLH event with a million dollar guarantee, the perfect start to a huge WPT event like this.

Today marked the start of the $600 Mid-Series Showdown, which features a massive $2,000,000 guarantee, and comes with a total of seven starting flights, running all the way through Saturday.

Other major NLH events such as the $1,100 Triple Stack with $500k guarantee and the $2,200 Deep Stack with a $200k guarantee are still on the calendar over the next couple of weeks.

To make things even sweeter, the schedule also includes a number of mixed games events, including a $600 Limit Omaha 8, $600 Big Bet Mix, $1,100 8-Game Mix, $1,100 H.O.R.S.E, and many others.

For all the high rollers out there, the WPT festival also includes plenty of big buyin events, including the $10k Heads Up (32 players max), $10k Deep Stack NLH, $50k High Roller, $25k PLO, and a $25k WPT High Roller with a million dollar guarantee.

One particularly interesting event featured at this festival will be the $600 “Savage Average” event with a $50k guarantee, which will feature a brand new blinds structure created by WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage.

$3 Million Guaranteed in the Championship Event

On April 19, players will get their first chance to enter the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship event with a $3,500 buyin and a massive $3,000,000 guarantee.

The event will feature only two starting flights, which means you will need to be at Hard Rock on either Friday or Saturday to take a shot at the Championship event.

As is usually the case with WPT Main Events, this one will come with a slow structure and plenty of play, and will allow for re-entries in case you bust our early on a cooler.

WPT SHR Final Table

Of course, you can pick and choose your starting day, and there will be plenty of side action going on if you happen to qualify for Day 2 immediately and don’t need flight 1B at all.

The event will go on for another three days, as it plays down to a final table and the next WPT champion is named on the ultimate day of the festival, April 23.

Play with Your Poker Heroes at WPT Seminole

Meet up games have become a staple of all major tournament festivals, and WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown will be no different.

On April 18, starting as early as 11 AM, players will get a chance to play a $2/5 meet up game with WPT Poker Ambassador Brad Owen acting as the main host.

The likes of Matt Savage and Vince Van Patten, all familiar faces on the WPT, will join Owen at the tables, giving players a chance to play with these heroes of the poker world.

Speaking on the meet up game, poker’s most successful content creator Brad Owen said: “I’m pumped to return to the world-famous Guitar Hotel for another meet-up game. Last year’s MUG at the Poker Showdown was a blast and we’re eager to bring back that hype to the Florida crowd for the upcoming SHRPS.”

If you are not in Florida just yet, you may want to make sure you book your hotel right now and make your way there before April 18, as this will be a meet up game you don’t want to miss out on.

Become the Next WPT Champion

Last year’s WPT SHRS saw Bin Weng take home the $1.1 million first-place prize and the glory of becoming a WPT champion, a part of his journey to becoming the WPT Player of the Year.

The season is still young and plenty of WPT events still lay ahead, which means you still have a chance to do the same and start your journey at the Florida stop of the WPT.

The festival is now in full swing, and hundreds of players are taking to the tables already, meaning the Championship event will likely shatter its guarantee and create a massive first-place prize once more.

The registration for all SHRS events is now open, and all you need to do is head down to Hard Rock and put your name down for a chance to become the next WPT champion and have your name engraved on the iconic Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup.
