The 54th Annual World Series of Poker Gets Underway in Las Vegas

The wait is finally over! The largest event in all of poker, the WSOP, gets underway today in Sin City, kicking off several weeks of intense action, big prizes, and, of course, coveted gold bracelets.
It is a moment that countless players and fans across the globe have been looking forward to. The 2023 World Series of Poker promises to bring a lot of great things for the players and the audience watching from home alike.
If you happen to be in the latter group, you can look forward to extensive WSOP coverage this year. PokerGO will bring live coverage of numerous bracelet events and daily updates, while numerous players will be running their own vlogs during the Series.
We will try our best to bring you regular updates as well, together with any big or entertaining stories. Every WSOP so far has produced at least a few of these, and there is no reason to think the 2023 event will be any different.

Let the Festivities Commence
It’s been a tradition that the World Series of Poker kicks off with the Casino Employees event. The tournament is open to dealers, casino floors, and everyone else connected to the casino industry in any way.

The modest buy-in of $500 makes it quite appealing, and it is also one of the only chances for the WSOP dealers to get their shot at the gold.
After today, things will get very busy, and they won’t have too much free time on their hands.
The first open event of the 2023 WSOP will take place today as well. This is Event #2, the $25,000 6-Handed High Roller tournament, and there are no restrictions. Everyone can participate as long as they don’t mind paying the steep price of admission.
First WSOP at the New Horseshoe
Last year, the World Series of Poker made a big move, with the Paris and Bally’s Casino, two venues located on the Strip, becoming new hosts for the Series.
The location has remained the same for 2023, but there have been some changes, as Bally’s is no more. The venue has been renamed and rebranded to Horseshoe Las Vegas, paying tribute to the original venue where it had all started well over five decades ago.
The organizers have put in a lot of work behind the scenes to make the players feel welcome and comfortable, and if you happen to visit this year, you’ll get to enjoy all these perks.

There are 95 bracelet events on the WSOP schedule this year, and the action will continue until July 18, which is when the last tournament, a single-day super turbo event, will take place.
Starting flights for the Main Event commence on July 3, and, like every year, players can choose from four starting days (A, B, C, and D) for their shot at the ultimate WSOP glory.
