There is more action coming for all poker fans in the United States as BetMGM has announced its Spring Online Championships, happening from April 11 – 28.
The series will feature $1,000,000 in guarantees across 65 events in each of the jurisdictions (Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey), and there are 24 trophy events thrown in the mix.
The average buy-in for the series is somewhat steep, as a majority of tournaments feature buy-ins of at least $100, but with generous guarantees and trophies up for grabs, there is plenty of reason to get involved.
BetMGM Poker Spring Online Championships Highlights
The Spring Online Championships series will kick off on April 11 and will last for two full weeks. All BetMGM Poker players will have an opportunity to get involved as the operator is hosting the series in all three jurisdictions, with 65 individual events on the docket in each jurisdiction.
Out of these 65, 24 tournaments will be “TROPHY events,” meaning that the winners will receive a special trophy in addition to the first place money.
All TROPHY tournaments also come with a special early bird promotion, where all players who register before an event starts will receive 100% of their rake back. Thus, with a bit of planning, players can save a fair bit of money in the process.
The overall guarantee for the series is $1,000,000, and, as is often the case, a few tournaments are responsible for the bulk of that sum, namely:
- $1,000 Championship event on April 28 – $125,000 GTD
- $1,000 Six Figure Sunday on April 14 – $100,000 GTD
- $2,500 Super High Roller on April 21 – $100,000 GTD
Naturally, all of the highest buy-in tournaments are also TROPHY events, giving players a bit of extra incentive to join the action.
A majority of tournaments feature No Limit Texas Hold’em, but there are different game types on offer (PKOs, turbos, 7-max, etc.). There are also a few PLO events thrown into the mix.
Qualifying for the Spring Online Championships
As mentioned, the BetMGM Poker Spring Online Championships is geared more toward players with bigger bankrolls. The three cheapest tournaments on the docket are $50 Sunday Deepstack events on April 14, 21, and 28.
The rest of the schedule consists of tournaments with buy-ins of $100, $250, and $500, plus the three events listed above that feature four-figure buy-ins.
The good news is that you can win your seat for some of these tournaments at a much lower cost. For example, qualifiers for the Six Figure Sunday are available around the clock and feature a step system where you can start with as little as $2.
There will also be special SPINS available in the lobby, giving you a chance to win the $1,000 ticket for the Championship event on April 28.
BetMGM Poker also hosts a variety of $10 satellites awarding $100 tournament tickets that you can use to register for any of the Spring Online Championships in that buy-in bracket.
All in all, together with the NASCOOP taking place at PokerStars US, April promises to be a very exciting month for all poker fans in the United States, with plenty of action around the clock and some big prizes up for grabs.
