The goal in blackjack is to draw cards with a total value that is higher than the dealer’s or as close to 21 as possible (without going over). This means knowing the value of each card is one of the most important elements to master in this game. So, how much is each card worth in blackjack?
In blackjack, all the cards (except the picture cards) are taken at face value. This means all cards from 2 to 10 have the same value as the number on them. The picture cards or face cards (King, Queen, and Jack) all have a value of 10. In a deck of cards, 16 cards have a point value of 10. This means your chances of drawing a card with a value of 10 is greater than that of any other card.
The Ace card has a value of either 11 or 1, depending on which one is more beneficial to the player or dealer from a blackjack strategy perspective. The default value of an Ace card is 11. However, if taken as 11, it will make your total score go over 21, and the Ace can be assigned a value of 1 instead. Note that the card's suit or color is irrelevant to the overall value of each card because they do not contribute to the card’s worth.
