Sports fans out there are no strangers to trading cards. In fact, the phenomenon has been around for decades, featuring prominent players from major sports leagues and competitions such as the MLB, NBA, and NFL. For poker fans, however, pickings have been slim, at least until now.
It’s been over a decade since we’ve seen a set of trading cards featuring poker players, and it was high time someone did something to rectify this injustice. That someone is Poker Royalty, a Las Vegas-based poker agency that works with some of the biggest names in the industry.
Poker Royalty has partnered up with Leaf Trading Cards, a company that’s been in the business of creating trading cards and sports memorabilia since 2010. If all goes to plan, the new set will become available in 2024.
Featuring Everyone’s Favorite Players
According to the first information, the set will contain 40 cards, and it will feature some of the best players around, including the likes of Daniel Negreanu and the WSOP bracelet record holder Phil Hellmuth.
The winner of the 2023 record-breaking WSOP Main Event, Daniel Weinman, will get his place as well, and he’s no doubt proud to be featured alongside the legends of the game.
According to Josh Pankow, Leaf Trading Cards VP, it has been ten years since the company’s last cooperation with Poker Royalty, and it was high time to get on a new project. The new deck will feature poker players from different periods, including some of the fresh faces.
Prior to this, there were several editions of poker trading cards, with the ones in 2006, 2009, and 2010 released under the Razor Poker name. Then, in 2011, there was a set released under the Leaf banner.

Across these different decks, hundreds of poker players were featured, including many celebrities who left their mark on the game, such as Lou Diamond Phillips and Jerry Bus.
Something for the Fans to Get Excited About
For all the fans of the game out there, this is really great news, as it adds a new dimension, as the opportunity to get a card signed by your favorite player doesn’t come around every day.
Talking about the upcoming set, Weinman didn’t try to hide his enthusiasm, stating he remembered the old sets from way back and how much he liked those:
“I remember seeing those poker cards years ago and seeing a Hellmuth, Negreanu, and a Tom Dwan card. Now Leaf is bringing this idea back with new players, and someone out there will find my signed card.”
Over the past year or so, the interest in live poker has been booming, and projects like this can only help create more interest in the game and fire up that passion.
We’re looking forward to finding out more information about what other players will be featured in the set and seeing the cards’ design. It may not be a huge deal, but it’s definitely a breath of fresh air, and we love to see it!
