What is a 6-max in Poker

In poker, 6-max is a term used to describe 6-handed games or poker games with a maximum of six players.

A 6-max poker table consists of six different positions:

When it comes to the number of players at the table, the other, more traditional format is full-ring poker. Unlike 6-max poker games with a maximum of 6 players at the table, full-ring poker games usually consist of 9 players.

Another difference between 6-max and full-ring poker is that cash games are usually played in a 6-max, while MTTs are usually in a full-ring format.

Regarding game dynamics, 6-max poker games are much more aggressive and have less limping than full-ring games because fewer players are at the table, which causes players to play wider ranges.

6-max online poker cash games are one of the most popular poker formats, and many poker professionals make their living playing these games. Because of this, they also tend to be much more competitive than full-ring cash games.

Poker 6-Max Example:

A player in the first position in a 6-max game opened the pot by raising, so the next action went to Hijack, and he had to decide how to proceed with his hand.
