What Is Real Time Assitance (RTA) In Poker

In poker, Real-Time Assistance or RTA refers to the use of software that can provide players with information or advice during the course of a poker hand.

These poker tools can range from basic calculators that provide players with odds or statistics to more advanced GTO software that analyze the game in real time and provide recommendations to the player.

The use of real-time poker assistance tools can be very dangerous in games because it gives the player who uses it an unfair advantage over their opponents by providing the perfect solution for every poker hand that they play.

On top of that, more advanced tools can give information about their opponents’ tendencies, helping them in the decision-making process and allowing them to exploit weaknesses in their opponents’ games.

Because of this, the best online poker sites explicitly ban many real-time assistance tools, and their use can result in severe penalties, including account suspension or even legal action.

Poker RTA Example:

In 2020, it was discovered that a German poker player Fedor Kruse was using RTA assistance when playing.

Kruse was running his online poker clients on one computer and RTA software on another. Whenever he was in a tough spot, he used the RTA software to make the perfect Game Theory Optimal decision or, in other words, the correct mathematical play.

After it was found out, Kruse was banned from GGPoker and PokerStars.
