The Ante in 3-Card Poker is the initial mandatory bet that players have to make in order to participate in the game. The players don’t know which cards they will have when posting the Ante, meaning that they are posting this forced bet blindly.

The Ante bet is always placed before the deal, along with any additional bonus wagers a player might choose. Following the Ante, every player will receive their cards, which they can see before the next round.

After seeing the cards, you have the option of placing the Play bet. If you do not wish to place this second bet, you can opt to fold, in which case you automatically lose your Ante bet. But, if you want to go to the showdown and have a chance of winning, you will have to post the Play bet as well. The Play bet is always equal to the Ante bet.

The purpose of the Ante bet in 3-Card Poker is the same as that in other poker variants. It provides the players with an incentive to play and have a stake in the game right from the start.
