After a five-year hiatus, the World Poker Tour has finally returned to Montreal, where the Playground Poker Club continues to host the popular event.

The WPT Montreal festival started on May 5 with a number of online feeder satellites, but truly kicked-off just yesterday with the first flights of WPT500, a $590 event designed to give players a chance to experience the thrill of WPT at a discount.

And even as the WPT500 action rages at the Playground Poker Club, players are getting ready for bigger things, including the WPT Prime Championship, WPT Championship, and the WPT Meet Up Game, all of which are scheduled for the coming days.

The festival is just about to enter its most exciting days, and there is still time to make your way up to Montreal and join one of the most appealing WPT events of the season.

WPT500 and Prime Start Things Off

Things are already underway at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal, and there is no shortage of exciting events to play in the coming days.

The festival started with an exciting $590 WPT500 event, which features a substantial $500,000 guaranteed prize pool and is guaranteed to attract over a thousand entrants over its six starting flights.

Registration for this one ends on Saturday May 11, so if you want to jump in make sure to do so in time before the registration closes.

If you don’t quite make it in time for WPT500, the first flight of the $1,150 WPT Prime Championship starts on May 12, and the tournament will be offering a cool $1,000,000 in guaranteed prizes.

This event will feature a number of online feeder satellites via WPT Global, as well as on-site milestone satellites that will allow you to win your seat for just $180.

WPT Prime Montreal will feature a total of four starting flights running through May 15, with Day 2 action starting on May 16, the same day as the start of the WPT Championship.

While the early days of the festival will be reserved mostly for WPT500 and WPT Prime flights, some side action will be available as well, as a number of smaller buyin tournaments will be open for registration throughout the duration.

Join WPT Legends for a Meet Up Game

WPT Meet Up Games have become such a big part of the Tour that it would be nearly impossible to imagine a major WPT festival playing out without one.

This time around, Playground Poker Club will play host to a WPT Meet Up Game featuring poker YouTuber Brad Owen, WPT tournament director Matt Savage, and TV hosts Tony Dunst and Vince Van Patten.

Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the WPT Meet Up Game

This crew will be joined by a number of other influential pros and poker celebrities, along with dozens of casual poker players who will come out for some fun cash game action.

As usual, the stakes will be $1/3 and $2/5, which means everyone will have a chance to compete and play with some of the biggest names in the poker industry.

The WPT Montreal Meet Up Game starts on May 14 and will offer a single day of exciting cash game action ahead of the main festivities of the WPT Championship event.

WPT Montreal Championship Offer $2 Million in Guarantees

For many coming out to the Playground Poker Club, the WPT Montreal Championship will be the only event they are looking to play or at least the one they will be laser-focused on.

This year’s WPT Montreal Championship, the first in five years, will start with Day 1A on May 16 and offer two more Day 1 flights on May 18.

With a buyin of $3,500, the event will guarantee at least $2,000,000 in payouts, but if history is anything to go by, this number will be blown out of the water.

The fact that only three starting flights will be made available to the players plays slightly against the guarantee being shattered, but late registration will be open until the end of Day 2 for those looking to take one last shot at the Championship and the trophy.

The WPT Championship, along with the WPT Prime Championship, will play down to their final tables, before the cameras are turned on.

The final days of these two major events will be live-streamed on WPT YouTube and Twitch Channels on May 21 and 22, giving us direct insight into all the action leading up to the crowning of the champions.

A Last Ditch Effort for the High Rollers

Like any major WPT festival, WPT Montreal will attract casual players, professionals, and high rollers from all walks of life, all of whom will be battling it out for the coveted WPT titles.

While the festival will generally offer buyins in the mid-major range, a single $10,500 High Roller event will be played out over the course of two days on May 19 and 20.

The event will feature 40-minute levels and 40,000 starting chips, and unlike many high rollers, it will offer players plenty of time to play and build up their stacks at a steady pace.

For all the high rollers out there who don’t quite make that deep run in the Championship, this High Roller event will offer one last opportunity to save their trip and go back home with a hefty profit.

The lack of WPT festivals in Canada over the last few years has been felt in a major way, and a massive turnout is expected for this year’s edition of WPT Montreal.

Both WPT Prime Championship and WPT Championship are scheduled to start in the coming days, giving you plenty of time to come up and join us for what could be a historic WPT event.

Even if you don’t enjoy tournaments too much but live in the region, make sure to diver out for the WPT Meet Up Game and join WPT legends at the green felt for one fun day of cash game action.
