What Is A Joker Card In Poker

In poker, the Joker is an extra card that can be added to the deck to be used as a wild card. A wild card is a card that can represent any other card, or in other words, a poker joker can be used to complete any hand a player is trying to make.

The majority of poker games do not use jokers, and they are removed from the card deck before dealing a poker hand.

However, in poker games such as Hi-Low Split and Five Card Draw, a joker can be added as a wild card to replace the highest card the player is missing from his combination.

Overall, the availability and the purpose of the Joker card depend on the poker format and the rules of the game you are playing.

Poker Joker Example:

Imagine you are playing a game like 5 Card Draw, and you have T, J, Q, K, and a Joker card. In this situation, you can use the joker as a replacement for the A and put together a high hand from T to A that would be a Broadway straight.
